Chef Erik Claire is the founder and owner of Murphys Catering Company. Chef Erik’s passion for food and service is in his blood- his father owned and operated multiple restaurants. As a young child, Erik played underneath the tables in the restaurant, and was quickly put to work as a teenager.
Chef Erik is a classically trained chef, having graduated with honors from Johnson & Wales culinary institute. He has a vast array of culinary experience, including fine dining, culinary competitions, and years in the restaurant world. He won multiple Gold medals at American Culinary Federation competitions, and was the first place winner for best ribs at a Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) event, as well as people’s choice for best sauce. Chef Erik recently competed in the KCBS BBQ state championship competition.He also served as a Certified Culinary Instructor for several years, instilling in his students a commitment to excellence and treating every meal as a special event. As a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard Chef Erik knows the importance of honoring commitments and ensuring successful outcomes.
Through his decades of experience, Chef Erik discovered his passion for simple, delicious food done exceptionally well. His love and penchant for BBQ inspired the direction of Murphys Catering Company. He focuses on using high quality ingredients and not taking shortcuts- anything worth doing is worth doing right. BBQ is a labor of love, and that shines through in the food Murphys Catering Company is honored to provide its clients.
